National Orientation Agency

Media and ICT Intern

September - November 2023

I interned at the National Orientation Agency headquarters in Rivers State in fulfilment of my SIWES internship. From September 4th to November 26th, I had the privilege of being part of NOA, an organization dedicated to fostering community dialogue and engagement. My time there was filled with opportunities to sharpen my skills in public relations, video production, and live streaming while contributing to meaningful projects.

Public Relations: Building Visibility

Collaborating with senior management on media rounds was one of my most enriching experiences. As a Media intern, I assisted in capturing key moments, ensuring that NOA’s message reached a wider audience. These efforts highlighted the importance of strategic storytelling and its role in amplifying a brand’s identity.

Video Production: Crafting Impactful Content

Over the course of my time at NOA, I contributed to the production of 24 promotional videos, engaging in every stage from pre-production to post-production. These videos collectively garnered significant attention, helping to establish NOA’s presence on social media.

In addition to working behind the scenes, I also featured in several promotional videos and live-streamed dialogue sessions. Stepping in front of the camera was a new challenge that taught me to balance creativity with presentation, ensuring that the content resonated with viewers.

Interpersonal Communication: Hosting with Purpose

Hosting guests for the weekly live-stream dialogue was another integral part of my role. This responsibility involved coordinating with participants, ensuring they felt at ease, and facilitating productive discussions. These interactions helped create a welcoming atmosphere that fostered insightful conversations.

Live Video Streaming and vMix: Technical Expertise

The weekly live-stream dialogue program was a highlight of my experience. Using tools like vMix, I assisted in the seamless execution of these events, ensuring that the technical aspects complemented the engaging content. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of live production and the importance of precision in real-time broadcasts.
